Creativity: Beach Glass by the parkside

Hey everyone;-)

I made this new sea glass dual pendant necklace while watching my son play in the park. It reminds me of the Odd Couple Necklace but it is smaller, both pieces are natural beach glass, with a touch of faceted bicone and Bali sterling and the aqua piece is wire wrapped from a different angle.

When I feel a little better, I will take more shots and list her in my Etsy shop;-) I haven't figured out a name yet, any suggestions?

Creativity- Trying something new

Hey there;-)

You know, I have always wanted to try my hand at hair accessories. I love flower hair clips so I decided to experiment. with an old fabric flower from a handbag that fell of years ago and a vintage button that's been sitting in the sewing box for years!



Here she is. , the very first hair clip I have ever made.I think she is a sweet little shabby chic darlin;-) I am still on the fence as to whether I will sell her or keep her as an example for future inquires. When I started my SRS shop I always wanted to make more than just jewelry....so it's time I start crankin out something different.



So what do you think for my first hair clip???

Creativity -Working with Pottery Shard

Happy Monday!


Wow, I look hilarious;-) Two weeks ago I made a video of me doing some basic smoothing and crafting with pottery. I have never worked with raw shard before so I was excited just to see if I could file it down without breaking or weakening it.

Then the crafting bug kicked in and I started wrapping it into a sample pendant just to see how it looked.


I also like to try new things that will expand my skills as well as show my authenticity as an indie crafter. I'm excited at the possibilities. Let me know what you think;-)Oh, if you have any ideas on how I can work with the shards better post your comment here;-)

Here is my Aquatic Pottery Shard Necklace..I broke a few piece of this gorgeous teal green shard to make a pair of earrings but I couldn't get a hole to drill through so I made a pendant instead..all smooth around and perfectly square.It's listed in my Etsy shop

Creativity: The Wedding Bug

Sigh I LOVE weddings :-) So the bug has bit me again. I finally got around to making simpler floral romantic necklace with a eco-conscious twist.

I made the Bouquet Necklace from up cycled pink ribbons that once belonged to my daughters' old Barbie and American Girl dolls . They were used as sashes,accessories and hair ribbons on the dolls.She loved the dolls but hates Pink..tee hee. After 12 yrs of not playing with them she donated the dolls and their clothes to the Red Cross for the kids in Haiti. I hope some lucky little girls got them;-)

I just took the ribbons and learned the ribbon rose pattern to make a pendant. This one was made with glass pearls and recycled sterling silver.


This one is currently listed in my shop. It is made with red brass-though its color is more golden then any shade of red.



I love seed pods and so I added up cycled vintage czech glass faceted beads from my mom's old broken rosary from 50 years ago that she gave me and threaded through a seed pod to make this necklace.


This ring is my next project..what do you think??

I sold my first pair of Feather earrings in the Swan today and re listed-though I have sold these before, it was a great karma;)

Natural Inspirations-New Listings and Peacock Stems

Hey Family,
If anyone has the first album by Neo-Soul Artist India Arie- You will see her standing with her back turned holding a fan of peacock feathers behind her back. I got inspired and wanted to take apicture of me holding my man made stems in a similiar fashion.

I just listed some new Spring Green Peacock Stems in my Nyblaque shop.

Since the molting season is out for the farm -raised peacock feather I purchase from upstate new york and other organic sources, the feathers listed as made from man made materials and dyed with organic color fast dye. There are no animal tested or animal by products used to create the feathers.I don't know how they do it but the feather like soooo real in person are very good quality and come with easy care instructions.

I love the color contrast from yellow -green to lime green on some of the stems I have.

I even picked up some "swords" very cool;-)

I had a Mardi Gras moment when I laid out all the stems I have together.The Purple, Blonde, and Green look great together;-)

Speaking of color, I love pine cones and colored leaves- this was a nice decor mix I picked up from Michael's Craft Store.

I had no idea the colors would inspire me to create these necklaces:

I put together a wood embellishment disk with a nice Anaku tile pendant bail and a simple chain. Simple and  easy;-)

Channeled my inner Tao with this necklace:-) I love the shape of these Picture Jasper beads- I didn't know wheither to make the Ying Yang sign or the Pisces for Feb/March- so I made one of each LOL!

"As I was making cards for the fair tomorrow, I was stumped as to what kind of card to make for wedding greetings. Where I live we have a few huge community centers where folks hold lots of wedding receptions, bridal showers etc, esp during the Spring/Summer months

ClaudiaCreations.etsy.com creates "plantable"and organic paper from her own 100% post consumer waste paper pulp mixed with things such as flowers, thread, crayon, easter grass etc. In these designs I used the recycled set although there are some flower portions in there.

The butterflies by Porkchopshow.etsy.com -( the same genius behind those Wooden Typewriter Keys I used to make earrings) are made with 1/8" thick wood and cut with a laser cutting machine. Then gorgeous paper strips made from craft paper and soy ink add the finishing touch with each heartfelt phrase.

Of course this fair was a great opportunity to showcase some wedding sample cards. Then I received these gorgeous paper sets and my mind swirled into a whole new direction:

These are great for anniversary as well. In fact when I posted a sample of these cards through Twitpic, within 10 mins one of my Twitter followers wanted me to create a custom order of 150 of the same designs, but as Wedding Invitations instead!!!! OMG 150!! Can I tell you I almost fell out my chair.

Since each card is a limited one of a kind original- I will be selling these cards in the design format seen here in my Artfire shop ( this shop closed) as a made to order listing. Each component is completely handmade so no two cards will look quite the same."

Spontaneous Crafting

Hey Family, I honestly didn't intend to make anything today- really I wanted to just pack and ship my orders and stay in bed. HA!! I was actually packing an order of these beautiful vintage Japanese glass beads today when the craft bug took over.

As soon as I came back from shipping the destash order. I got busy..and just couldn't stop--well, more like didn't want to..I really didn't have any particular direction with the bracelet not to mention I remember how tedious it is to hand wire wrap each bead to chain. But I loved the color palette so much I just kept going.

added some verdigris patina charms..a nice patina dragonfly.......

I'm still not finished yet LOL..but I won't add too much more. I stopped posting beaded bracelets in my shop because frankly, it's not cheap labor - if you catch my drift. The time and effort that does into these type of bracelets can go for hours if it is a more intricate design, but most of the time goes to the careful wire wrapping, weighing and setting of the chain.

So we'll see what happens with this beauty. I will list her in my shop tonight.

These cute little cubes are a late night earring project I'll finish.

Andromeda-Swarovski Crystal Wire Wrapped Pendant

This pendant was the easiest and fastest idea I worked on. I saw this Swarovski cosmic ring sitting on my craft table all lonely from an unfinished project. I am trying out different " self bailing" techniques on my pendants to eliminate the worry of losing a pendant from a popped or loose jump ring. I think of moms when I make these type of pendant as I have had many test pendant pulled of my old chain by my son on purpose just to see how durable they are.

This type of bail can be worn closed or set apart to have that "crowned bail look while threading the chain or cord through it. Ok...back to crafting.. Let me know what you think so far..

Simplicity- New Creations

Hey Family,
I'd like you to meet Emma, the newest edition to the Atlantis Collection in my Etsy shop

The idea to create these actually came from me dropping the verdigris patina filigrees on my craft table next to a print of a red rose as I was preparing to make a video. The color contrast of red, green and dark brown were so beautiful I was inspired.

I was tweeting a few days ago chatting with Digitalmisfit about some ideas I had made with recycled glass pieces I bought a few weeks ago. I choose recycled glass instead of beach or sea glass just for the eco- friendly nature of them as these were made from recycled bottles and glass products that would have otherwise been sitting in a landfill.

I love the smooth , frosted matte look and feel of these pieces. This one I named "Silver Lining" had nice groves to easily wire wrap into a pendant.

I named this one WaterRose for its beautiful sea green color and the handformed firescale patina copper rose I added as an accent- These are the same roses I used in my Emma earrings. The name was also inspired by a fellow EPE team member and gorgeous hand embroidery & textile artist Waterrose . I love her natural textile artistry and her shop banner colors inspired me;-)

Seeds, Beads and Brass-New Listings from Ny

Hey Family!

I froze my butt off taking pics of these new items today---brrrr! The crisp air made for some crisp shots of these new pieces I made that I will be listing in my Etsy shop tonight.

These Metal Eastern Earrings are gorgeous blue fire scaled patina copper links that I purchased from another etsy artist to add wire wrapped geniune citrine nuggets and brass earring wires for a stunning earthy eastern effect;-)

These Little Treasure Pendants are my favorite pieces! I love adore these cute brass open cages that I filled with lampwork beads and wire wrapped stone. I wish I had some off those tiny xmas tree lamps that would fhave made a nice lantern-like effect...Opps I made have given someone an idea! lol.

I headpinned the beads and sealed each cage closed for extra security so there is no worry of the beads falling out.

Yellow Rose Brass Link Earrings

Vintage Czech glass and Natural Seed Pod Earrings- yes I turned a prop inro an earring- with some repurposed vintage ab czech glass beads from a old broken rosary and some silver wire I made these little cuties.

Acorn White was the last piece I made but didn't get a chance to finish..she will have her partner ready tomorrow. I am debating should I make an earring pair or pendants?? What do you think??
