Gypsy Magic-Earring Project

I am excited to be working on two new Tribal fusion peacock earring project for my belly dance classmates Alicia and Denya. Alicia loves wheat brown feathers so she wanted an earthy version of the Sula earrings. The only problem we both stumbled upon was which metal link should I use for the outer support hoop.
Copper?

Sterling silver ?

or antiqued brass? Once the metal hoops are choosen I will wrap them in brown leather an then add a few filigree charms. Alicia has given them the name Amazon- I like it;-)

These beautiful handforged and soldered metal hoops in Rustic Copper by Missficklemedia and Sterling silver by Aunali are great hoops to work with. sturdy, strong but not heavy at all.

Alicia and Denya loved the mixed metal components and czech glass beads I had chosen for the designs and hand picked their favorite color combinations

Denya picked this eclectic color combo of verdigris, silver and brass with yellow czech moon beads and bright green dyed peacock feathers for the Athena Earring Project.

I need to finish the earrings by Saturday. I would love your input to help us decide! If you scroll up to the upper right hand side of the blog you can find my blog poll just above my shop links. You and also leave a comment here or at my Facebook Fan page. Tweet a link too, the more votes the better!

Color Love

I just had to post these;-) I love color so much. it's almost therapeutic for me. I never seem to stick with a design I started drawing. These earrings were supposed to be beige peacock feathers with black and brass...but nooooo. I just had to add some green and blue..yellow was in the picture for a very brief second lol!

Then black became burgundy..a little purple, some turquoise and ........

I think they are gorgeous statement earrings....what do you think?

Merge in the Making

Hey Family;-)

Just wanted to touch base and inform everyone of a few changes.

As of February 2011 Nyblaque.etsy.com will permanently close. Yes, I know I have said this before and re-opened but it is official this time. I have I am giving up the shop name and merging with my more eco-conscious sister shop SwanRiverStone.

I won't delete the account as I know many know me by my Ny name so they will know where I am. It is also where my online history began and would make a good feedback and history reference. The blog is looking different too, I imported most of the blog posts I have created here to my SwanRiverStone blog & will eventually delete this blog. My Nyblaque Facebook Page will also be deleted.

I still have some listing at my Nyblaque shop on Etsy but they are expiring pretty fast so most of them are still on sale. I may relist them for the Holiday Shopping Season in November and let them run their 4month course. I also opened a new bead and supply shop on Artfire. http://beadhappy.artfire.com...just don't make fun of my lack of banner and avatar right now LOL!..I'm getting one, I'm gettin one;-P

Hopefully I will get to see some, if not all of you come over to my SwanRiver blog. I admit I have been way more active there than one this one..but for those who have been following with me for years..you know I haven't been great at multi-blogging lol!

Creativity - Wood Whimsy

I am having too much fun with these laser engraved birchwood beads. I think it's great that this wood was repurposed into a beautiful creation to work with. I made an adjustable ring.

New cufflinks

And post earrings. I made these for Wandering Gypsy Soul and her hubby as a sweet romantic idea she came up with.

My favorite is the Balance Necklace made with a beautiful Kanji engraved wood pendant.

Strength -Always Inspired

Always Inspirations was the lucky winner of my Hypnotize Earrings that I featured during my blog giveaway earlier this month. She was sweet enough to post a pic of herself wearing her prize on her blog and stated she hoped I could make a matching necklace.

I was honored to make her request-the Hypnotize Necklace. I can't wait to see how it looks on her. I was truly..Inspired ;-)

The Strength: Whether it is a fellow artist or a client, the best compliment is when you are sought out to use your skills to bring one's unique vision to reality. It 's one of my greatest and humbling honors when my work is appreciated so much.

Creativity- A rare find.

You all know how much I LOVE working with peacock feathers, I had the sheer luck of obtaining a few RARE white peacock feathers! wow;-)!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaGXoJJ1Vqw Video by Seagirlcat @ youtube.com

I haven't been able to behold the delicate beauty and grace of this amazing creation in so long. I feel truly honored to obtain them. Of course these are american farm raised and animal cruelty free. Since peacocks generally shed from 120 t0 160 feathers per season(post mating) you can see why these are extremely hard to find.

I will only have 6 pairs of earrings to offer due to the rarely of this color of feather, which by the way is not really albino but a rare mutation which make the feathers white;-) it is still in the family of Indian Blue Peafowl.

Creativity -a Man's touch

Recently, I have gotten a growing inquiry of men jewelry from past customers at craft fairs that purchased from me. I used to love making men's/unisex jewelry as it sold very well at street fairs and during the time I was as outdoor vendor but it didn't do so well online.

I am seeing a small spite in interest from women who want to purchase items for the man in their live and a few direct requests from the guys themselves. It's awesome! I found some lovely bohemian and ethnic beads and woods to work with. Most guys I have talked to still lean toward dark earthy colors like reds, blue, greens, and browns.

The tops favorite colors in jewelry are still black, silver , gun metal, a little gold and very very neutral white.

I look forward to making some more creations soon. thanks for visiting.

Balance - Family Time

I was sitting at home with two slightly swollen feet and a bp reading of 145/90 feeling miserable. I wanted to go out so badly but I was too tired to take the baby for an outing. Then my son's father called: " What are you doing today? He says. "Feeling sorry for myself LOL!" I replied.

"Oh yeah, he chuckled, we just have to see about that, I'm coming over."

Two hours later, I found myself in Coney Island, Brooklyn taping the same ride I experienced as a child for the first time many years ago, the Saturn 6. Just looking at it again made my stomach turn just as it did as a child;-P I had forgotten how much fun this place is for the young and old. I've been so busy working it's hard to schedule in family time. But I do and enjoy every moment if nothing else for the sake of sanity.

It was a perfect 75 degrees, with a few gusts of wind at 20 miles per hour.

The water was so calm you would never think we just an Catagory 2 Hurricane blow past here just the night before.

Though we are separated, I have noticed my son's father has become increasingly active in our lives, esp my son's. I just wish the support was here 3yrs ago when I needed it the most. But I'll take what I can get;-)

I love this little shell;-)

And yesterday was the Wonder Wheels' 90th Anniversary

It was a beautiful day;-) Thanks for visiting

Creativity: Beach Glass by the parkside

Hey everyone;-)

I made this new sea glass dual pendant necklace while watching my son play in the park. It reminds me of the Odd Couple Necklace but it is smaller, both pieces are natural beach glass, with a touch of faceted bicone and Bali sterling and the aqua piece is wire wrapped from a different angle.

When I feel a little better, I will take more shots and list her in my Etsy shop;-) I haven't figured out a name yet, any suggestions?
