Balance: Wisdom for Wednesday

You are always achieving something, one thing or another. You are always getting results of some kind.

Getting the results you most passionately and authentically desire is not a matter of making more effort. It is, rather, a matter of making different efforts and consistently keeping those efforts focused.

Focus is a choice you make in every waking moment. You are always focused on one thing or another.

The way to maintain your focus long enough to get the results you seek, is by reminding yourself why. Be clear about why you want those results, and find a way to keep those reasons close at hand.

The success you seek is not particularly difficult. It's just a little bit different than what you're doing now.

Be clear about why, keep your thoughts and efforts focused, and your life will proceed in the direction of your dreams.

Balance - Family Time

I was sitting at home with two slightly swollen feet and a bp reading of 145/90 feeling miserable. I wanted to go out so badly but I was too tired to take the baby for an outing. Then my son's father called: " What are you doing today? He says. "Feeling sorry for myself LOL!" I replied.

"Oh yeah, he chuckled, we just have to see about that, I'm coming over."

Two hours later, I found myself in Coney Island, Brooklyn taping the same ride I experienced as a child for the first time many years ago, the Saturn 6. Just looking at it again made my stomach turn just as it did as a child;-P I had forgotten how much fun this place is for the young and old. I've been so busy working it's hard to schedule in family time. But I do and enjoy every moment if nothing else for the sake of sanity.

It was a perfect 75 degrees, with a few gusts of wind at 20 miles per hour.

The water was so calm you would never think we just an Catagory 2 Hurricane blow past here just the night before.

Though we are separated, I have noticed my son's father has become increasingly active in our lives, esp my son's. I just wish the support was here 3yrs ago when I needed it the most. But I'll take what I can get;-)

I love this little shell;-)

And yesterday was the Wonder Wheels' 90th Anniversary

It was a beautiful day;-) Thanks for visiting

Balance: A Reality Check

It's funny how sometimes we don't practice what we preach;-) I have always talked about taking care of ones health, trying to find holistic ways to stay mentally and physically well.

But I have not always done the same for myself. and the unfortunate lesson behind this is what my doctor warned me I had a 50% chance of not having it if I lost weight and found better ways to relieve stress in my life since everything else was fine and I had lived my life differently than my fore parents did. Last week I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure.

At 37, I am the youngest to have this diagnosis between my mother and my grandmother who were diagnosed in their late 50's and 60's. I had the trait for it but mu cardiologist told be that I could beat it if I ate right and exercised..I did and lost 35 pounds over 3 yrs and limited my salt intake greatly.

But the stress..it came from many angles in different forms but I guess it wasn't enough. When I went to my cardiologist my BP was 166/101--that's HIGH

Five yrs ago it was 144/110 but I was 230 pounds, going through a bad breakup and working for a small business for a boss from hell. All the same, it snuck up on me. Still, HBP is manageable and since I already know it full history, I have the jump on living with HBP. I still have 20 pounds to go and thankfully I have no high cholesterol, no high blood sugar and my white and red blood cell counts are excellent.

I am taking Diovan as my medication treatment and so far so good. My readings have gone down to 130/80..that's a BIG difference! Oh, the hematite? Hematite is a grounding stone with absorbs negative energy and stress. I carry one with me everywhere I go and made a pendant with the other one to wear close to my heart.

There is no Balance in life if your health is not centered...take care of yourself, no matter what.

Balance: Family Time

My little sweetie turned 4 on Thursday;-) Wow, time flies;-) Ashe loves my chocolate cakes so I made his favorite one layer square shape for his birthday. His big sister called in to send birthday greeting while away at school.

His adopted uncle(my best friend) and mentor stopped by and gave him his favorite super hero:-)(minus the missiles lol)

an afternoon bike shopping for his first big boy bike with stabilizers(training wheels).

and finished with some weekend "Man Time" with Dad and his new bike;-) Daddy assembled the bike and everything for him and took it for a test run in the courtyard since I couldn't find his helmet. No helmet, no outside lol;-) Ashe didn't care daddy was teaching him how to ride-that was enough for him.

Thanks for visiting:-)

Balance- Moving On.....

It's never easy to leave something you worked so hard to achieve behind. I loved the freedom having my own place gives me as a young mother and an artist..but after four yrs of living here it is time to move on..

Like most people, I have good and bad memories within these walls. On the positive, this is where I started working from home, where I brought home and started raising my youngest child, held my first holiday celebrations as a family on my own, saw my oldest child go to her junior prom with her first date...the laughter,,the creative freedom..the awesome hardwood floors LOL;)

Well, the walls have been freshly painted, and the floors swept and cleaned. This pic is where my home office was located in the foyer the desk is being taken apart to load into the truck easily. I spent many a night till the wee hours working in this area. All the crafting, packing, wrapping and sewing. I'll miss watching my youngins from above the sunk in living room playing while cooking dinner or finishing up some emails before bedtime.

Sigh, I am really going to miss this place, but the rent has become just too high to keep it.

The Balance is simple: With progress comes change, a better opportunity awaits..look to the future and learn from your past so you can apply the wisdom's kept to your present.
