Gypsy Magic-Earring Project

I am excited to be working on two new Tribal fusion peacock earring project for my belly dance classmates Alicia and Denya. Alicia loves wheat brown feathers so she wanted an earthy version of the Sula earrings. The only problem we both stumbled upon was which metal link should I use for the outer support hoop.
Copper?

Sterling silver ?

or antiqued brass? Once the metal hoops are choosen I will wrap them in brown leather an then add a few filigree charms. Alicia has given them the name Amazon- I like it;-)

These beautiful handforged and soldered metal hoops in Rustic Copper by Missficklemedia and Sterling silver by Aunali are great hoops to work with. sturdy, strong but not heavy at all.

Alicia and Denya loved the mixed metal components and czech glass beads I had chosen for the designs and hand picked their favorite color combinations

Denya picked this eclectic color combo of verdigris, silver and brass with yellow czech moon beads and bright green dyed peacock feathers for the Athena Earring Project.

I need to finish the earrings by Saturday. I would love your input to help us decide! If you scroll up to the upper right hand side of the blog you can find my blog poll just above my shop links. You and also leave a comment here or at my Facebook Fan page. Tweet a link too, the more votes the better!

Shop Updates;-)

HEy Family whats shakin???

So as you know Nyblaque is no more and yes I mean it this time;-) I have a new shop called Beadhappy @ Artfire.com this is where my feathers and destash bead and craft supplies have been relocated. My jewelry and eco crafts are also at Artfire and Zibbet.com . I won't be making jewelry with gemstones anymore. So what pieces you do see listed that have gemstomes where already made before the transfer.

So what to do with this blog?? I am going to go back to featuring indie artists, hosting giveaway local events here in the city and some random fun stuff. I will start posting sometime in April.

My second blog, SwanRiverStone has been deleted and all post imported here. So feel free to follow both blogs or pick one of your favorite. Either way I appreciate your support.

So, what have you guys been up to. got any links you would like to share? Post them here. Keep it clean of course;-)

Strength -Always Inspired

Always Inspirations was the lucky winner of my Hypnotize Earrings that I featured during my blog giveaway earlier this month. She was sweet enough to post a pic of herself wearing her prize on her blog and stated she hoped I could make a matching necklace.

I was honored to make her request-the Hypnotize Necklace. I can't wait to see how it looks on her. I was truly..Inspired ;-)

The Strength: Whether it is a fellow artist or a client, the best compliment is when you are sought out to use your skills to bring one's unique vision to reality. It 's one of my greatest and humbling honors when my work is appreciated so much.

Creativity: Lost and repurposed

Back in May, I found this silver object on the park bench where I usually take my shots. It's perfect for a pendant or ring I think.

The first thing I thought of was this would be a nice addition to the leather scrap I have left over from the belt I made for my little one.

So I cut a piece for backing and added a wood ring ....them my idea got stuck there....

Then,.last week I bought so super odd, even super rare black seaglass..this kind is called bottle top glass since it was made from old glass and metal bottle from a loong time ago.

I added the half piece on top of my pendant idea... I think this would be a great pendant for a man or maybe a mixed media/"keep it weird "piece?? Hmmm, what do you think..should the glass stay on or off??

I'd love your input..thanks for visiting.

Creativity -Bead Lust -Earth Day Collection

I have already started my Earth Day Collection with some simple hammered rings and Wood Kanji Earrings

but I came across these lampwork and ceramic handcrafted beads and drooled! These would make great additions to the Earth Element (glass & clay) of the collection. Every piece in the collection represents one of Earth many elements somehow- Fire-Metal-Water-Air-Earth-Wood.

I also bought some glass beads for bracelets

I haven't figured out how I am going to incorporate Air and Water...I'll think of something;-)..Fire is actually represented as a neccessary element to form and shape Wood & Metal &Earth( i.e heat patina, kiln heat and drilling/laser)

Water is represented through Sea glass through ocean tumbling and the hydration process.

Plus I love these Periwinkle Pillow Boxes made with plantable recycled paper. Created by Mariposa Paper Arts . I package all my small pieces in these boxes.

Creativity -Working with Pottery Shard

Happy Monday!

Wow, I look hilarious;-) Two weeks ago I made a video of me doing some basic smoothing and crafting with pottery. I have never worked with raw shard before so I was excited just to see if I could file it down without breaking or weakening it.

Then the crafting bug kicked in and I started wrapping it into a sample pendant just to see how it looked.

I also like to try new things that will expand my skills as well as show my authenticity as an indie crafter. I'm excited at the possibilities. Let me know what you think;-)Oh, if you have any ideas on how I can work with the shards better post your comment here;-)

Here is my Aquatic Pottery Shard Necklace..I broke a few piece of this gorgeous teal green shard to make a pair of earrings but I couldn't get a hole to drill through so I made a pendant instead..all smooth around and perfectly square. It's listed in my Etsy shop

I hope you enjoyed the video;-) Thanks for visiting;-)
