Ny at work in her favorite shirt :)- Update

Today is the fourth day of Kwanzaa, Today's principle: Ujamaa (oo-JAH-mah)(Cooperative Economics). Desired action- helping build and maintain profits and entrepreneurship, and economic self-sufficiency within the community. When I originally posted this blog, I wrote about a young woman I met a festival named Esra and her family. Esra had opened a small clothing boutique in the Bronx and was looking to add handmade jewelry to her shop. She also imports beautiful fair-trade bone, glass, semi and shell beads from the Congo that she uses for her clothing designs, with tons left over unused.

As part of contribution to Ujamaa in my daily life, I did sell her unused beads in my old destash shop on Etsy last year and Esra sold special collection of my hammered earrings in her boutique. Unfortuately the economic woes of 2009 proved to be a difficult first year for Esra so her store front was closed and her husband took over the property to expand a new branch for his already established travel agency.

I took these picyures of me creating some pieces tonight for Esra at the time.

It's so peaceful to sit in my room with my portable table and just hammer away comfortably. The pair I was making in these pics was my personal pair. Thats the only time I don't use gloves.

The tee shirt I am wearing I purchased from ZeCe Designs at Etsy.com
Consciousness - Hand screen printed women's ringspun cotton
As you can see I am a "big girl":) lol, but this shirt ( Size XL) fits me comfortably easy to wash and wear and 100% ring spun cotton that feels great on my sensitive skin. I am very happy to find great quality shirts that fit perfectly for my size.

Zece
means "Ten" in Romanian, and Diana & Alfonso are the perfect "10" couple behind Zece Designs with an awesome selection of screen printed tees for men and women. Please check out Diana's oil painting art shop as well http://zecearts.etsy.com/ :)

More than a pretty picture

Hi there..I listed these new picture jasper earrings and bone bracelets in my shop a few days ago....but there was something else that I been thinking about...How much I LOVE taking pictures.

Over the past year since I signed up with Etsy ..I have always looked for new and creative ways to photograph my jewelry...but then my mind as I take the pics starts to wander off and I imagine my photos in a photo art gallery ,,,or an ACEO print....I have even though of becoming a Jewelry Photographer..hmmmmm

I fell in love with this picture before I crop it to advertise my earrings...it was completely unintentional how these herb leaves fell into the wood squares. As I was making these earrings, the crisp autumn air was blowing gently through my window.. the tree outside my window finally turned a full golden yellow. Everything was so warm and earthy the Picture Jasper's and the gold chain looked perfect together...As I laid them down to photograph between the squares i knocked over some dried red clover flowers i had In a bowl to grind up later to make tea..in that instant, the wind caught them and dusted them just as you see them.

I love to add details to my photos to give them an edge...a personality....i guess i try to find backgrounds and scenery that reflects what is the feeling or theme I had when i created the jewelry design.

I have received lots of compliments on this photo below...another beautiful accident. I was just trying to get a shoot that captured the details of the brass component AND the color if the stones in evening light...Then a scene plays in my head..............

I thought of a woman who was sitting outside on the deck of a ferry boat reading a book, that caught the attention of a handsome man who admired her from afar....as he approached her she looks up in his direction and the sunlight just lightly glides across her face catching the light green/hazel in her eyes.

The man..in awe of her natural beauty says "Your earrings are beautiful"
She replies, "Thank you, these are my favorite pair"
He smiles with an adoring smile..."Yes" he says, I can see why"............

Just a few thoughts I wanted to share

I remember this one

I love to write poems...its a passion of mine. Poetry became my vent to say what I couldn't dare out loud..especially when I was in love. Here is a poem I wrote to someone I was crazy about.....
YOU
I took a mental picture of you the day me met. To burn you in my mind lest I would not forget. It was that first glance, the welcome in your smile. Your eyes that said come closer to me, the memory alone drives me wild. You're the reason my body feels like a child. Vying for your attention, craving your affection. As a young girl I dreamed you, now you're reality, true perfection.
No treasures can quite compare to the knowledge you hold and wisdom you share. The intensity within your stare tell me your desires, your fears and your cares. You want to get close but i back away. The sounds of your voice compels me to stay. The intensity in your eyes leaves no doubt that you wish, to fulfill the desire of sharing a first kiss. The tenderness in your lips release guarded emotion. A prelude to soft sighs and passionate devotion.
In this moment I learn you're that man, of which women will search. They say women choose their man. But at this moment it is YOU who chose me first.
